A grandiose setting
The Cantonal Alpine Garden of Pont de Nant is located in the Vaud Alps, at an altitude of 1260 meters. Founded in 1891, it is one of the oldest alpine gardens in Europe still in operation. Located at the entrance to the Vallon de Nant Nature Reserve, this garden benefits from unique conditions: the south-north orientation of the valley, combined with the proximity of a glacier, creates an ideal microclimate for mountain plants.
This privileged location is home to almost 3,000 species, grouped by region of origin. Alongside Alpine flowers, you'll find plants from the Himalayas, the Rockies, the Caucasus, the Andes, Japan, New Zealand, the Atlas Mountains and even the Arctic regions. The garden, dedicated to preservation and education, also offers a haven for nature lovers, with trails to discover its exceptional plant wealth.
